Robert Pattinson Phones Agent Over 'Hunger Games' Rumor
Speaking to Usa Today at the Cannes Film Festival - where he won praise for his role in David Cronenberg's 'Cosmopolis' - Pattinson said, "I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in 'The Hunger Games.I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent". The 26-year-old laughed, "[My agent] was like, 'No one's going to offer you that part.' I was like, thanks for the reassurance". The character of Finnick is a male victor of the 'Hunger Games' from District 4 - he is described as being muscular, blond and handsome, and will play a key role alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson in the next instalment of the franchise. With Pattinson apparently out of the running, it is reported that Daniel Newman, Zac Efron, and Chace Crawford could all be in with a chance of landing the role.
Following the departure of Gary Ross, director Francis Lawrence will take charge of 'Catching Fire'. The filmmaker is best known for 2005's 'Constantine', with Keanu Reeves, as well as 'I Am Legend', with WILL SMITH.
