Robert Blake's Piers Morgan Interview: My Wife Was A Con Artist
The former star of 'In Cold Blood' was famously arrested for the murder of his wife, Bonnie Lee Bakley, but later acquitted. When Morgan asked what his relationship was like with his wife before her death, the actor shot back, "I felt sorry for her sometimes because God never gave her that little piece of sunshine that he gave me.All the times I could have been dead and should have been dead and would have been dead. But God always said, no, here's the sidewalk, little boy. Go out there and dance and they'll throw money". Things got a little more heated when Morgan pushed Blake to talk about whether he thought Bakley was duplicitous, with the actor musing, "I think she was a con artist, yes.I think she came to Hollywood to con her way into show business". Bakley was shot in May 4, 2001 while sitting in her car after having dinner with Blake in Studio City, Los Angeles. The actor had briefly returned to the restaurant when the murder took place.
Blake's last movie role came in David Lynch's 1997 drama-mystery 'Lost Highway', also starring Bill Pullman and Patricia Arquette. The full interview with Piers Morgan airs tonight on CNN (July 12, 2012).
