Robbie Williams Leaves Rehab

by | 07 March 2007

Robbie Williams has left a US rehab centre he was attending to treat an addiction for prescription drugs.

The 33-year-old singer, who has sold 50 million albums worldwide, entered a clinic in Arizona on his birthday last month.

Reports in the Sun newspaper claimed that he left the centre, which they named as the £700-a-night Cottonwood de Tucson, a week early to be with his mum.

The tabloid reported that the centre is one of the harshest in America, with patients sharing rooms with two others and a complete detox undertaken for the first five days.

The former Take That singer's spokesperson confirmed that he is no longer at the centre but is continuing his treatment.

"Robbie Williams has completed his stay in Arizona and is continuing with an after-care programme in Los Angeles," a statement said.

The singer, who has had problems in the past with drink and drugs, rose to fame with Take That and embarked on a successful solo career when the band split in 1996.

But his last album Rudebox failed to live up to his previous records and was named as the worst album at last week's NME awards.
