He even had his son come on to defend him as Matthew Tweeted "RobLowe It's okay dad, Johnny and I still love you even if you did stir up the twittersphere... even on the blackout. Sopa Faceplam," whilst the hashtag 'robloweisreporting' became a trending topic on the microblogging site.

Speaking to Ellen Degeneres on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show,' Lowe explained the Twitter furore admitting that he was merely a "regular guy" who was "a huge, huge, huge, huge Peyton Manning fan." Revealing that he'd been surprised by the reaction on the social networking site he said "You learn the power of Twitter. That's a powerful, powerful medium."
