Rivera Undergoes Emergency Surgery
The Amiga Si Lo Ves star was taken to a hospital in Guadalajara, Mexico for the operation, where doctors told the 38-year-old the appendicitis was likely to have been brought on by her intense workload.
The illness meant Rivera had to cancel a number of appearances in Mexico and the U.S., but the singer vowed to return to her schedule after taking a few days rest, as advised by her doctor, reports PeopleEnEspanol.com.
In a message to her fans, Rivera says, "First of all I want to apologise for the inconvenience, but the work has taken a toll on me and my health, resulting in this emergency (operation)...
"But I am now well and... I promise that soon I will be out there with you to (continue) my performances. "
