Ringo Starr - Ringo Starr: Beatles may have reunited if all alive

Ringo Starr says the Beatles may have reunited by now had they all survived.

The 72-year-old musician and his former bandmate Sir Paul McCartney have both gone on to have successful music careers since the band split in 1970, but Ringo likes to think all four original members would have got back together for a tour if they were all alive now.

John Lennon was shot by a fan in New York in 1980, while George Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001.

When asked the ''crazy question'' on whether they would reunite in the present day, Ringo told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''I'd like to think, yes, we would.

''Paul still goes out with his band, I go out with mine and John would have probably been going out with his.

''George was not big on touring so I'm not sure about him. But who knows ... it could have come together.''

Ringo - real name Richard Starkey - lost his mother Elsie in 1986 and describes the memorabilia of his life she kept in her Liverpool home attic as similar to ''Aladdin's cave''.

He added: ''It was like an Aladdin's cave - a treasure trove of memories. Mum was a bit of a hoarder and she collected all this amazing stuff from my life.

''There were baby pictures, ones of me with Nurse Edge when I was in hospital with TB aged 14...

''Later, even when I was in the Beatles, she must have emptied my bag or pickets when I came home and put random things away.''

Ringo has captured his trip down memory lane in 'Photography', revealing a collection of never before seen photos and mementos.

His work is currently available as an e-book.

I think if all four guys were still alive then the chances of a reunion would be fairly high
