Ridley Scott: Casting Is Key

Ridley Scott claims the key to a successful movie is all in the casting.

The 'Prometheus' director is careful to surround himself with a great cast on all the films he makes, and from there tries to ensure the experience is as ''fun'' as possible.

He told Red Bulletin magazine: ''I think every director has his own method, and mine is all in the casting, the actors usually trust me. I like to have a team and I make it, honestly, as much fun as possible.''

Noomi Rapace - who stars in 'Prometheus' alongside Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron - backed him up, saying she never felt like she was out on her own while working on the film.

She said: ''The amazing thing about working with Ridley is, I never felt alone. We were doing some quite Disturbed things some days, it was tough. But it always felt like we were doing something together.''

Ridley has slightly played down the links between 'Prometheus' and his earlier film 'Alien' - which it started out as a prequel to - but thinks they both address huge issues about man's Evolution.

He added: ''It brings up questions about evolution, are we biology or are we creations of some entity?

''I believe, for us to be sitting here, having evolved from Carbon, an atom. It had to have had help. I definitely believe that.''

That's really funny because Noomi Rapace was a terrible casting decision for the Shaw role. Let's see, we have a tall, athletic, beautiful, brassy actress in Theron that would be an absolute PERFECT successor to Sigourney Weaver's Ripley character. The main female lead to carry the movie. Right, so lets make her a stone-faced, cold, corporate type in the movie that never leaves the ship and expresses little emotion. Noomie was a terrible casting for the lead female lead. Everyone loves her because of the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo series was so critically acclaimed. But all she did in that movie was walk around with a cold, stern, mad face. She showed no range in her skills. She would of been better casted a female android to mix that up from a male android that was in the original Alien. What a miss it was to not have Charlize Theron in the lead role. Movie would of been 2x as good.
