Rick Springfield - Rick Springfield Denies Charge Despite Breathalyser Test

Rick Springfield has pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol despite failing a breathalyser test when stopped by police in May. Although Springfield did not attend the hearing in Malibu this week, his attorney entered a plea of not guilty relating to his arrest on the Pacific Coast Highway, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The rocker, best known for his hit 'Jessie's Girl', was pulled over around 8pm on 1st May while driving his 1963 Corvette. Authorities said the singer registered a 0.10 blood alcohol level on a breathalyser - the legal limit in California in 0.08. He was arrested and released on $5,000 bail after being charged with misdemeanour driving under the influence. Earlier that day, Springfield had made an appearance at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the Usc campus. As well as his string of hits, the singer is also known for playing 'Dr Noah Drake' in the daytime drama 'General Hospital', starting in the early 1980's.
If convicted of the Dui charge, Rick Springfield could face a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. The singer is scheduled to attend a court hearing on August 15th 2011.
