Rick Ross' Seizures Inspired New Song
The heavyweight hip-hop star, real name William Leonard Roberts II, was forced to axe a number of shows last autumn (11) following two mid-air seizures within hours of each other on 14 October (11), which led to his brief hospitalisation in Alabama.
The double health scare forced the 36 year old to postpone the release of his sixth solo record, God Forgives, I Don't, until July (12), and now Ross reveals the experience gave him a whole new take on his music.
He tells MTV.com, "When I got out of the hospital... the doctor told me, 'You gotta eat some more fruit, drink you some water, eat fruit and just relax for a little while.' My fruit of choice was pineapples.
"For the next three weeks, I woke up every morning and ate diced pineapples, and I put the concept together... It's kinda like, 'She could be my diced pineapple. This special lady, she could be what I wake up to every morning and help me get by every day.'"
