Rick Ross - Rick Ross Hopeful Of Future Reebok Reconciliation
Hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross hopes to one day reunite with his former business partners at Reebok after he was dumped as a brand spokesman for making light of date rape in a recent song.
Bosses at the sports giant came under pressure from women's rights activists to cut ties with the rapper in March (13) following the controversy surrounding his lyrics on Rocko's U.O.E.N.O. track, in which he appeared to suggest he would drug a lady to have sex with her.
Reebok eventually parted ways with Ross in April (13) and the musician subsequently issued an official apology to anyone he offended with the ill-advised rap, insisting it was one of his "biggest mistakes and regrets".
And he admits he is still hopeful of reconciling with Reebok executives in the future because they parted on good terms.
He tells MTV News, "At the end of the day, once the dust settles we'll just readdress the situation - once the time is right. As far as myself and Reebok, we got a healthy situation."
Ross now wants his Maybach Music Group artists Meek Mill and Rockie Fresh to learn from his bad judgement as they have both since inked deals with another sportswear label, Puma.
He says, "It most definitely was a learning situation and just for the little homies, just something for them to take away. That's what's important to me, what they take away from it."
