Richard Stilogoe - Richard Stilgoe Knighted
Songwriter Richard Stilogoe has been knighted in his native England in honour of his extensive charity work.
The star, who has composed lyrics for several of Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage hits, including Cats and The Phantom Of The Opera, was dubbed a 'Sir' at Windsor Castle by Queen Elizabeth Ii's daughter Anne, Princess Royal.
The 69 year old was recognised for converting his old home into the Orpheus Centre, a residential living centre for disabled students interested in the performing arts. He also teamed up with his wife Annabel to launch the Alchemy Foundation, which distributes royalties from his U.S. theatre productions to several clean water and sanitation projects.
Playing down his efforts, he said, "It's not about helping you sleep at night, you do what you feel is the right thing to do."
