Blur - Reunited Blur And Stone Roses Lead Q Awards Nominations
Reunited '90s acts Blur and the Stone Roses are set to do battle for two of the big prizes at Britain's upcoming Q Awards.
The reformed bands will go up against Muse, Coldplay and Lady Gaga to be named best act in the world today at the British music magazine's prizegiving next month (Oct12).
Blur and the Roses are also up for best live act, along with The Cribs, Radiohead and Bruce Springsteen.
Rapper Dizzee Rascal and singer Emeli Sande, who both performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympics in July (12), are up for best solo artist, alongside Adele, Noel Gallagher and Florence Welch.
Q magazine editor Andrew Harrison says, "It's been the most incredible year for British music. Our bands and our anthems transformed the Olympics into the greatest music event on Earth. And amazing comeback shows from Blur and the Stone Roses showed the enduring appeal of our greatest musicians."
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 2 October (12).
