Report: Gore Selling Current Tv
Former Vice President Al Gore has put his Current TV up for sale, the New York Post reported today (Friday). It quoted CEO Joel Hyatt, a co-owner with Gore, as saying, Current has been approached many times by media companies interested in acquiring our company. ... This year alone, we have had three inquiries. As a consequence, we thought it might be useful to engage expertise to help us evaluate our strategic options. The Post said that Current has yet to launch a formal sales process. The left-leaning channel, whose principal stars are former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer and former The View and HLN personality Joy Behar, has never drawn significant ratings, except during a period when perennial bad boy Keith Olbermann hosted a talk show (Current fired him last March) -- and even his ratings were a fraction of what they were when he previously appeared on MSNBC. Olbermann, incidentally, is reportedly looking for a new job, Forbes magazine reported on Thursday, noting that he has approached several networks that don't have news programming on their schedule.
