Report: Couric Prepares For Zucker Exit

After news reports indicated that Jeff Zucker may be in line to take over as head of CNN Worldwide, Katie Couric sought out several attorneys for advice on what to do if he quits as producer of her syndicated show, the New York Post's Page Six column reported today (Tuesday). Zucker owns a large portion of Couric's new daytime show, creating huge complications should he leave, the newspaper observed. One of the attorneys with whom she met, according to the Post, was Allen Grubman, senior partner of Grubman, Indursky, Shire & Meiselas P.C., regarded as the largest entertainment law firm in the U.S. She did not hire Grubman, however, according to the report but went on to consult with two other unnamed attorneys. A source told the Post: There is no bad blood. Katie understands [Zucker] wants a big job and will eventually leave. This isn't about suing him, this is about her getting the best overall deal for herself, and if in the event he does leave, she has proper counsel ready.
