Rep Plays Down Hallyday's Daughter's 'Suicide Attempt'
A representative for French rocker JOHNNY HALLYDAY and screen star NATHALIE BAYE's daughter LAURA SMET has played down reports she tried to commit suicide.
The actress was rushed to hospital in Paris, France on Monday (04Jan09) after her boyfriend Julien Delajoux called emergency services.
It was reported she had downed a mixture of alcohol and medication near St Germain Des Pres church, but her agent has rushed to dismiss reports she attempted to take her life.
In a statement, representative Elisabeth Tanner insists Smet simply fell ill. She says, "We confirm that Laura Smet has been hospitalised but there are no worries about her condition as a result of a simple illness that surfaced today."
Smet's lawyer, Herve Temime, also played down her condition, telling AFP she "is not in any danger".
But a police source told the news agency the actress' status was "serious" and it is too early for cops to say whether it was an attempted suicide.
Smet will reportedly remain in hospital for several days while police investigate a possible suicide bid.
