Reinhardt's Ramones Lawsuit Dismissed

Former RAMONES drummer RICHARD REINHARDT has lost a lawsuit against the estate of late bandmate JOHNNY RAMONE over outstanding royalties, after a judge threw the case out of court.
Reinhardt, aka Richie Ramone, filed suit against Ramones' estate and the punk group's management company last September (07), claiming he is owed $1 million (GBP500,000) in unpaid cash for songs like Somebody Put Something in My Drink, I'm Not Jesus and I Know Better Now.
The drummer, who spent four years in the band from 1983 to 1987, claims he never signed over the rights to six songs he wrote for the group that are currently available as internet downloads.
But in a New York court last Friday (18Apr08), U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin ruled that Reinhardt had signed a contract when he joined the rockers, which clearly covered the digital use of his songs.
Scheindlin referred Reinhardt to the words "now or hereafter known" in the contract, which made clear any future reproduction of his songs would be covered by the agreement.
Reinhardt's lawyer Jeff Sanders has yet to comment on the ruling.
