Red Hot Chili Peppers - Red Hot Chili Peppers close Coachella

Red Hot Chili Peppers brought Coachella festival to a close last night (14.04.13).

The 'Scar Tissue' band are celebrating 30 years together in 2013 and celebrated with a greatest hits filled set, bringing the three-day festival in their native California to an end.

The group opened with 'Monarchy of Roses' from their latest album, 'I'm With You' and stuck mainly to songs from their 2000s period for the first half of the show, including 'Dani California', 'Snow (Hey Oh)' and 'By The Way'.

The band ran into a little trouble during 'Otherside' when singer Anthony Kiedis messed up a verse, but most of the set ran smoothly, despite a sand storm brewing over the festival site in Indio, Coachella Valley.

Before they launched into 'Californication' bassist Flea shouted to the crowd: ''I love you California to the core of my f***ing speen!''

The band - also including Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer - delved a little further into their back catalogue during the second half of their set, inciting a mass sing-a-long to 'Under the Bridge'.

They finished the night with 'Suck My Kiss' from 1991's 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' album.

Twitter user Trip or Treats was impressed, posting from the festival: ''Red Hot Chili Peppers killed it tonight #coachella !!! (sic)''

Earlier in the evening reunited rap group Wu-Tang Clan were intent on giving it their all.

Group member Method Man said: ''No disrespect, but we've come here to steal the show.''

Elsewhere, the Saturday (13.04.13) of the festival saw R Kelly perform a surprise guest spot with headliners Phoenix.

The R&B superstar appeared with the French indie group, singing his tracks 'Bump and Grind' and 'I'm a Flirt' as well as being joined by Bruno Mars for a version of his hit 'Ignition (Remix)'.

Coachella's Friday night (12.04.13) was headlined by The Stone Roses. Other highlights of the event included sets from Jake Bugg, Biffy Clyro, Hot Chip and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
