Director Shawn Levy has confirmed a 'Real Steel' sequel will focus on the ''humanity'' of the robot boxing story.
A 'Real Steel' sequel will focus on the "humanity" of the story.
Director Shawn Levy - who has already confirmed Hugh Jackman and Evangeline Lily will star in the follow-up - wants the second film based in a future of boxing robots to maintain some of the "emotion" the audience sees in the first instalment.
He told MTV News: "It has certainly been leaked that the studio would like us to make another one, and that's based on the way we've seen the audience react to the movie - they react really emotionally. So we'll see, if we're lucky in the next month for sure we'll make another one.
"I think the movie works because of its humanity, so if we made a sequel, the humanity would have to remain a priority."
On its opening weekend in the US, 'Real Steel' took $27.3 million at the box office, placing it in the number one spot and beating George Clooney's directorial effort 'The Ides of March'.
Two thirds of the cinemagoers were men, although 25 per cent was made up of parents and children.
