Pixie Lott thinks her writing credentials set her apart from other performers and being a writer ''makes you more of a real artist''.
Pixie Lott believes her writing credentials set her apart from other performers.
The 'Mama Do' singer - who picked up two awards for 'Best UK Act' and 'Best Push Artist' at the MTV Europe Music Awards last Thursday (05.11.09) - said it was hard work that got her to where she is today.
She said: "Being a writer makes you more of a real artist. You can put your own stamp on your work. When I'm singing my own tracks I give a more honest performance."
The 18-year-old beauty - whose song 'You Broke My Heart' was selected by Simon Cowell to feature on the album of his 'X Factor' protege Alexandra Burke - also said she didn't believe reality TV shows were the best way to find new stars.
She said: "People can go on the 'X-Factor' and automatically attract millions of viewers and a massive fan base. But I think it's better to work your own way up, through hard work."
The British newcomer recently said it was Mariah Carey who'd inspired her to pursue a music career when she was younger and she would love to collaborate with her one day.
She said: "She made me want to get into music and helped me develop my singing. I would definitely like to emulate her."
Pixie's new single 'Cry Me Out' is available from November 30.
