Ray Romano's Axed Show Wins Tv Award
The sitcom was one of seven programmes toasted in Beverly Hills at the 2012 Television Academy Honors, which celebrates shows that inspire, inform and even change lives.
Men Of A Certain Age, which was cancelled last year (11), was hailed as a sitcom that exemplified "television with a conscience" after exploring middle-age problems in an episode about colonoscopies.
Accepting his trophy, Romano joked, "We had many more medical issues we could write about. I had an irritable bowel cliffhanger."
Comedian Denis Leary was feted for Rescue Me, while Kathy Bates' legal drama Harry's Law also received a prize from the TV Academy.
