Ratings Show America's Ready For Football

Viewers were clearly ready for the return of Sunday Night Football as the Pittsburgh-Denver matchup attracted an estimated 23.89 million viewers, peaking in the 8 30 p.m. half-hour with 26.61 million. An NFL football overrun on Fox at 7 00 p.m. drew 18.45 million viewers, and an overrun of the U.S. Tennis Men's Final on CBS at 7 00 landed 9.02 million viewers. Meanwhile, Scott Pelley's interview on 60 Minutes with Matt Bissonette, who has written a book about the Navy Seal raid that killed Osama Bin Laden -- it was delayed a half hour in the East and Midwest due to the U.S. Tennis coverage -- averaged 11.4 million viewers. The football overrun on Fox also boosted ratings for the season debut of The OT , which followed with 18.32 million viewers and a repeat of The Simpsons with 7.31 million viewers. And, despite the football competition, CBS's Big Brother actually rose 11 percent from the previous week, drawing an average of 7 million viewers.
