Rashida Jones - Rashida Jones Has New Direction As She Tackles First Screenwriting Job

Rashida Jones is looking to add a new skill to her repertoire as she tackles screenwriting (as well as acting) in her new movie Celeste and Jesse Forever, which is due to be released this Friday (August 3rd)
It is the first time that Rashida, daughter of Quincy Jones, has taken on the task of writing her own role, as she and actor Will Mccormack worked together on the script. Recently, she admitted to the New York Times that is was something of a relief to be able to break from the shackles of the roles she is usually resigned to admitting that she is "generally cast as the dependable, affable, loving, friend-wife-girlfriend."
Her new role - in which she plays the titular Celeste, a woman in the midst of a lingering divorce from husband Jesse (played by Andy Samberg) - allows her to at last stretch her acting muscles a little more than usual, as well as flaunt her writing abilities.
The film also shows that self-funded independent movies are still alive and kicking, as Celeste and Jesse Forever, directed by Lee Toland Krieger, was made for less than $1 million and under a strict, 23-day long regime.
