Embattled rapper B.G. is facing up to 40 years behind bars after pleading guilty to gun possession and conspiracy charges just days before he was due to stand trial.
Lil Wayne's former Hot Boyz bandmate had initially claimed he was innocent of two counts of felony weapons possession and conspiracy to obstruct justice following an arrest in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2009. He was charged after police found him with three loaded firearms in a car which had been reported stolen.
B.G., real name Christopher Dorsey, was arrested with two other men - Jerod Fedison and Demounde Pollard - and he is said to have tried to convince Pollard, then 17, to accept responsibility for the guns as he was the only one with a clean record.
The troubled star was due to head to trial on Monday (12Dec11) - but he appeared in court on Wednesday (07Dec11) to alter his plea and confess that he was the owner of the loaded handguns, reports AllHipHop.com.
The rapper, who has a long criminal history, was not offered a plea deal by prosecutors. He will be sentenced on 14 March (12).
Last month (Nov11), his associate Fedison was handed a 22-year prison sentence for his part in the incident.
