Randy Travis - Randy Travis Blames Super Bowl For Drunken Arrest
Randy Travis, the celebrated American country singer, has blamed watching the Super Bowl for his arrest on Monday (February 6, 2012) for public intoxication. Travis, 52, was "smelling like alcohol" in his car in front of a Baptist Church when he was arrested by Denton County Police, reports Tmz.com
However, Randy isn't just blaming alcohol for the arrest, telling TheWrap, "I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl.I'm committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions". According to police reports, there was an open bottle of wine in the singer's car at the time of his arrest. Travis attempted to explain to cops that she had a big fight with his girlfriend, but a police report noted, "Mr. Travis' speech was slurred and I was beginning to have a hard time understanding what he was saying". The 'No Holdin Back' singer was taken to the Denton Country Jail at around 1.30am and was released shortly afterwards. It is not clear who Mr Travis, from Marshville, North Carolina, was supporting in the Super Bowl, which ended 21-17 to Eli Manning's New York Giants.
The singer's most recently studio album 'Blessed Assurance' hit shelves in 2011. He has sold over 25 million records worldwide while earning 22 No.1 singles.
