British radio station VIRGIN has been forced to stop using Elvis Presley's classic track VIVA LAS VEGAS on an advertisement.
The London-based broadcasters changed The King's song to VIVA VIRGIN LAS VEGAS to promote a phone-in competition to win a trip to Nevada's Sin City.
Despite Virgin's change of title and using an Elvis impersonator instead of the real thing, the late rocker's lawyers instructed Virgin to halt their campaign.
A radio source says, "They told us we couldn't use it because we were broadcasting an Elvis track, even though it was only the title phrase.
"Elvis is the King and whatever he says goes, so we have canned the recording."08/10/2004 13:37
