Rachel Weisz For Dark Knight Rises?

Rachel Weisz is being pursued for a role in the forthcoming Batman movie 'Dark Knight Rises'.

The British actress - who was earlier this week reported to have split from long-term partner Darren Aronofsky - is wanted by director Christopher Nolan to take the leading female role in the movie, which has already cast Tom Hardy as a new character.

According to Deadline.com, Rachel is among a number of Hollywood women wanted for the role, with Blake Lively, Natalie Portman and Anna Hathaway also possibilities.

The movie - which does not yet have a lead villain - is expected to be shot entirely in IMAX and not 3-D as many had expected.

Christian Bale is set to reprise the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the film, which is due for release in July 2012.

Rachel has a number of forthcoming roles Including 'Dream House' with James Bond star Daniel Craig and she is also expected to play a lead character if psycho-sexual drama '360'.
