R&B star R. Kelly has been forced to pull the plug on all upcoming performances due to complications from 2011 vocal surgery.
The I Believe I Can Fly hitmaker was admitted to a Chicago, Illinois hospital last July (11) to have an abscess in a tonsil drained after days of severe pain - and now the star is experiencing new problems.
The 45 year old was due to host a book launch event in New York on Wednesday (27Jun12) and also perform on U.S. TV shows Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and Today later in the week (begs25Jun12), but, he has now axed all three gigs indefinitely due to a "health emergency".
A representative for the star tells Tmz.com, "Initial indications are that he is suffering from complications from surgery he had last year to treat an abscess on his vocal cords. It is unclear how long Kelly may be sidelined. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused."
The news comes on the same day as the debut of U.S. reality TV show Hollywood Exes, which features Kelly's former wife Andrea.
