Quentin Tarantino - Quentin Tarantino once considered Heroes for Hire film

Quentin Tarantino was close to making a 'Heroes for Hire' film.

The 'Kill Bill' director had previously considered asking 'The Matrix' actor Laurence Fishburne to star as superhero Luke Cage in a movie adaptation of the popular Marvel Comics series, but instead found himself writing a very different story to the one originally planned.

Quentin told MTV: ''After 'Reservoir Dogs', I had considered doing a 'Luke Cage: Hero for Hire' movie. [Producer] Ed Pressman owned the rights at that time, and we talked about it.

''I talked to Larry Fish about being Luke Cage, and he really liked that idea. Then I ended up writing 'Pulp Fiction'.''

The renowned director has since decided it's best he didn't take on the superhero project as he would want to be more original with his lead character if he were to direct such a film.

He added: ''My feeling is if I wanted to do something like that, I'd want to create the superhero myself.''

Quentin's latest film 'Django Unchained' has been nominated for five awards at next year's Golden Globes, and is up for Best Motion Picture Drama, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Christoph Waltz and Best Screenplay.

He recently hinted that both this film and his 2009 blockbuster hit 'Inglourious Basterds' are the first two parts of a trilogy as both share a ''companion piece quality''.

He revealed: ''I don't know, 'Inglourious Basterds' and 'Django Unchained' bespeak a trilogy. As different as they are, there is a companion piece quality. There might very well be a third one. I just don't know what it is yet.''
