Queens Of The Stone Age Bassist Holds Girlfriend Hostage
Nick Oliveri, who played bass with Queens Of The Stone Age for six years, had been arguing with his girlfriend the day before. After returning to the residence to collect her belongings, the bass player locked the couple inside the duplex. When police officers arrived, Nick refused to let her leave and a S.W.A.T team were called to the residence. After a two hour standoff, the 39-year-old finally let his girlfriend leave before giving himself up two hours after that. When authorities searched the property they found one high powered rifle which was fully loaded. Oliveri was booked on felony domestic violence but has since been released after posting $100,000 bail.
Despite his wide-ranging musical output, Oliveri is synonymous with Queens Of The Stone Age after playing bass during the band's most successful years. Known for his fiery goatee beard, he is currently touring with Kyuss Lives!, a reunited version of his former rock-band KYUSS.
