Queen Elizabeth Ii - Queen Elizabeth Ii Lands Honorary Bafta

Queen Elizabeth Ii was handed an honorary British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) award by newly-knighted Sir Kenneth Branagh on Thursday (04Apr13) in recognition of her support for the industry.

The My Week with Marilyn star gave the accolade to the reigning monarch at Windsor Castle, one of her residences in the U.K., and joked that movie bosses would be more than happy to cast her in projects after her turn in a James Bond sketch during the Opening Ceremony of last year's (12) London Olympics.

He says, "Your sensational appearance at the opening ceremony of last year's Olympics was especially memorable.

"So much so that several of my colleagues here tonight want you to know that should you wish to take it further into the world of British films that they have a number of scripts with them here this evening... with some marvelous parts for you."

John Willis, chairman of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, hailed Queen Elizabeth Ii as "the most memorable Bond girl yet" after climbing into a helicopter with 007 actor Daniel Craig during a pre-recorded clip and appearing to parachute into London's Olympic Stadium during the July (12) extravaganza.

The Bafta gala was attended by 300 guests, including director George Lucas and actors Damian Lewis and John Hurt.
