'Puss In Boots' Leaves Galifianakis In Love With Animation
PUSS IN BOOTS, the new animated adventure movie by DreamWorks, boasts an all-star cast including Antonio Banderas, Billy Bob Thornton and Salma Hayek. Released on Friday (28th October 2011) in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D, the movie is already gaining the plaudits, not least from one of its biggest stars.
Zach Galifianakis, best known for his turn as the hapless Alan Garner in The Hangover movies, stars as Humpty Dumpy in Puss in Boots and claims to have thoroughly enjoyed his first real experience of movie animation. Speaking to Collider.com, the 42-year-old discussed his initial reservations of playing 'an egg', saying, "My confidence, at first, was not that great, just like with anything that I do, but he (director Chris Miller) made me feel at home and comfortable". Zach's character accompanies the fearless Puss in Boots, voiced by Banderas, as he is pitted against murderous outlaws Jack and Jill. Asked whether the movie had encouraged him to do more voiceover work, the actor said, "I would do it in a heartbeat. I really had so much fun. Every time I left the recording, I just was in the best mood. Not a lot of jobs, in general, do you leave your job and feel like it's really easy and fun".
Produced by Guillermo Del Toro, the movie has already gained strong review ahead of its release. Writing in the New York Times, Stephen Holden calls it, "A cheerfully chaotic jumble of fairy tale and nursery rhyme characters parachuted into a Spanish storybook setting".
