Pistorius is expected to be released from jail in Pretoria, South Africa on Friday (21Aug15) after serving 10 months of a five-year sentence for culpable homicide, stemming from the 2013 shooting of Reeva Steenkamp at his home.

Just four days before his release, prosecutors have launched an appeal against his acquittal on a murder charge, claiming Judge Thokozile Masipa ignored key parts of evidence proving Pistorius knew Steenkamp was behind a locked bathroom door when he fired gunshots through it. Pistorius claimed he had mistaken his lover for a burglar and was found not guilty of murder during his 2014 trial.

Upon his release, just two days after what would have been Steenkamp's 32nd birthday (19Aug15), Pistorius will serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest with an electronic tag.
