Prometheus Trailer Released: The Alien Story Deepens

Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' has been given its first preview, with a trailer roughly a minute long teasing fans with what to expect from a movie that looks likely to be as dark and disturbing as the director's famous Alien films.

Though initially intended to be a prequel to the first 'Alien' movie, Scott's latest hasn't turned out that way, morphing into a different set of characters and plots. Set 30 years before 'Alien,' the movie features a host of A-list stars including Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Patrick Wilson, Idris Elba and Guy Pearce in what's set to be a return to a genre that Scott re-defined after his first 'Alien' film in 1978. The clip opens with a female voice gasping "I'm so sorry" and finishes with the tagline "They went looking for our beginning. What they found could be our end." The interim footage features what you'd expect from a Scott sci-fi flick; dark, imposing landscapes, a mixture of sparse environments and carnage on both a personal and grand scale.

The trailer for the film, which is to be released next year, was preceded this week by three 30 second clips of the director talking about the film, in one saying Prometheus " will be "all about everything. I come from the All About Everything School. Some good thinking, some great narrative, good dialogue and therefore, terrific actors."
