Sean Garrett - Producer Sean Garrett Ordered To Pay Off Credit Card Debt
29 October 2012Singer and producer Sean Garrett has been ordered to settle a credit card debt of more than $108,000 (£67,500).
The star, who has scored hits with artists like Usher, Beyonce and Nicki Minaj, reportedly racked up the big bill on his American Express card despite only having a credit limit of $55,000 (£34,375).
American Express executives filed suit against Garrett, but he failed to respond, prompting finance bosses to file a court motion for a default judgement last month (Sep12).
According to Tmz.com, a judge ruled in the company's favour and the musician must now pay off what he owes.
The credit card bill isn't the only financial difficulty Garrett faces - earlier this year (12), it emerged the producer owed more than $730,000 (£456,250) in unpaid taxes from profits made in 2006 and 2007. Court officials in Georgia subsequently ruled his future earnings from Broadcast Music International (Bmi), the body which collects royalties for artists, would be paid straight to America's Internal Revenue Service (Irs) officials until his invoice was paid off.
