Prince William - Prince William And Kate Middleton Wedding Inspires New Tartan

The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton has inspired a new design of tartan to be created in celebration, reports BBC News. The company 'MCCalls Highlandwear', who have numerous stores in Scotland, have developed the 'Royal Pride' tartan in commemoration of next year's historic wedding.

The design blends royal blue, black, charcoal, and silver, and attempts to recreate the style of Kate Middleton's engagement dress, as well as her ring which was previously worn by PRINCESS DIANA OF WALES. Iain Hawthorne, the managing director of 'MCCalls' said the tartan was a fitting way to mark the occasion, adding, "Although we'd love Prince William to sport the tartan, he will no doubt be wearing a ceremonial uniform for the service".

After months of speculation, the couple announced last month that they are to marry in London next year. The ceremony will be held at Westminster Abbey on April 29th 2010, and the day has been marked as a UK public holiday by ministers. The Prince's office confirmed to People Magazine this week that the 28-year-old will be on duty at his RAF base in North Wales on Christmas Day, meaning he will not be joining the rest of the Royal Family at their retreat in Norfolk.
