Prince Harry To Serve In Iraq 'Within Days'
LATEST: British royal PRINCE HARRY will be deployed in Iraq within days, despite ongoing concerns for his safety.
Harry - a second lieutenant (cornet) in his army regiment the Blues And Royals - will be the first senior member of the royal family to serve on the front line since Prince Andrew flew helicopters in the Falklands War in 1982.
Senior army officials have previously expressed concerns that insurgents would target the young prince if he served in Iraq but the Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt, confirmed yesterday (30Apr07) the Prince will be sent abroad.
He said, "The decision has been taken he will deploy. I will, of course, keep that decision continually under review. If circumstances are such that I change that decision, I will make a further statement."
