The Royal Family has decided against lodging a complaint with the press watchdog over Prince Harry’s Vegas pictures Photographs of the 27-year-old Prince cavorting naked in a Sin City hotel room were published by The Sun newspaper, causing a nationwide storm.

Despite the newspaper being the only UK publication to run the photographs, Harry’s office in St. James’s Palace said it had decided against pursuing a formal complaint given the Prince’s current deployment in Afghanistan, reports Reuters. It may be that the royals are concentrating their legal efforts on a French photographer who took topless pictures of The Duchess of Cambridge while she was holidaying with Prince William. The couple have launched a criminal complaint against the snapper, who provided French gossip magazine Closer with the photographs.

Harry returned to Afghanistan this month to fly attack helicopters in the NATO-led war against the Taliban. The royals said pursuing the Vegas scandal would “not be appropriate at this time and would prove to be a distraction” to the Prince’s service. The photographs were an embarrassment for the family after a summer celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
