Miuccia Prada has revealed clothes from her luxurious fashion label Prada will be appearing in 'The Great Gatsby' after she was asked to design a series of 1920s dresses.
Miuccia Prada designed the outfits for 'The Great Gatsby'.
The Italian designer - who owns prestigious labels Prada and Miu Miu - admitted she was chosen to create costumes for the 1920s inspired film which features mini flapper dresses and other classic pieces from the era.
The 63-year-old owner teamed up with costume designer Catherine Martin to dress stars including Carey Mulligan and 40 gowns from Prada and Miu Miu collections were adapted for the highly film.
She told US Vogue: ''I usually try not to literally reference periods in my work, because that's not the way I think. But when I worked on the costumes, I realised how many pieces could become very 1920s with a little intervention and another point of view.''
Baz Luhrman has directed the movie and the designer is no stranger to working with the talented Australian having previously made the outfits for his 1996 adaptation of 'Romeo & Juliet' and also for the series of clips that appeared in the Met's 'Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations' exhibition.
The movie will feature a range of designer clothes when it is finally released in July 2013 after Tiffany supplied the jewellery and the Brooks Brothers were chosen to make the clothes for actors including Leonardo DiCaprio.
