Powderfinger - Powderfinger Refuse To Reform For Flood Concert

Australian rockers POWDERFINGER have turned down an invitation to reform to help raise money for the victims of the country's devastating floods, insisting the band's recent retirement is permanent.
The musicians played their last-ever show in their hometown of Brisbane in November (10), and their native state of Queensland was subsequently plunged into a state of emergency as heavy rain caused massive flooding throughout the region.
Thousands of residents were forced to flee their homes, while at least 25 people have died. Local politicians and music promoters are now attempting to organiser a benefit concert to help fund the massive clean-up operation, and Queensland's member of parliament (MP) Rob Messenger made a public appeal for Powderfinger to return to headline the show.
The rockers have now refused the request, but offered to release a charity single instead.
A post on the band's website, reads, "The recent floods that ravaged Queensland have saddened and shocked us all. Our sympathies go out to everyone that has been affected and our condolences to those who have lost loved ones. The Powderfinger bandroom at Newstead went under, along with many of our wonderful neighbours' businesses and we thank everyone who came to lend a hand in the clean up.
"There have been some suggestions in the press for us to reform and play a charity concert, and while flattering, we would like to politely decline. We played together for the last time in November and intend to keep it that way. We do however want to help so we are currently planning to release a never-before-heard Powderfinger song with all proceeds going towards raising the hopes and finances of those recovering from the disaster by donation to The Premier's Flood Relief Appeal."
