Posthumous Pimp C Album In The Works
Late rapper PIMP C is to release a new solo album from beyond the grave.
The UGK star, real name Chad Butler, died in December 2007 from an accidental overdose of codeine combined with the medical condition sleep apnea, which he suffered.
But his bandmate Bun B reveals the tragic lyricist had been hard at work in the studio prior to his death - and has left plenty of material to fill a whole new album of his own, in addition to the forthcoming UGK release, For Life.
However, Bun B admits the raw tracks needed a little work to make an album that would live up to Pimp C's legacy.
He tells XXL magazine, "We had enough vocals. But it wasn't just about taking whatever vocals I had available; it was about constructing songs... It wasn't about just throwing all the Pimp C I had out there. I had to really try to make an album."
Pimp C's posthumous album, The Naked Soul of Sweet James Jones, is planned for release in the near future on Rap-A-Lot Records. It will be the star's first solo disc since 2006's Pimpalation.
