Adele - Politicians Praise Adele
Singing sensation Adele has been congratulated on her haul of Grammys and Brit Award wins by politicians in the U.K. parliament.
The Someone Like You hitmaker scooped six Grammy Awards earlier this month (Feb12) and sealed her triumph by taking home two Brit Awards - including the Best Album prize - on Tuesday (21Feb12).
Her joy was overshadowed by scandal after she flipped her middle finger at TV bosses for cutting her acceptance speech short - but on Thursday (23Feb12) politicians spoke out during debates at Britain's House of Commons to show their support for the star.
Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) Therese Coffey told the house, "I'm sure that you will be aware of the government's efforts to promote exports... Will you join me in congratulating (Adele) in winning the Grammys and call for an urgent debate on how music contributes to our great export growth."
Fellow MP Sir George Young replied, "I join my honourable friend in congratulating Adele on her many achievements and I share her disappointment that her speech was cut short by what she calls 'the suits'."
