Police swarmed Ashton Kutcher's Hollywood home this morning (04.05.13) after being alerted by a panic alarm.
The 'Two And A Half Men' star was not at home when a friend, staying in his property, thought he heard an intruder and pressed the emergency button on the security system at 5.30am but it turned out to be a false alarm.
A law enforcement source told gossip website TMZ.com that armed officers rushed to the 35-year-old star's home and searched his entire property but they found no signs of a break-in or intruder despite his pal claiming that he heard a scary noise.
A prank burglary at Ashton's home last October cost the taxpayers of L.A. more than £6,000 ($10,000) in wasted police manpower and other resources.
Police rushed to the star's Arrowhead Drive mansion after receiving a distress call from a person who claimed they were the victim of a violent home invasion robbery.
A 12-year-old boy later admitted that he was behind a series of elaborate prank burglaries, known as 'swatting', that involved him making anonymous calls to police claiming the houses were being robbed and in some cases victims had been taken hostage.
Insiders previously revealed that the boy lived with his mother in what was described as an ''incredibly dysfunctional'' home and refused to attend school but he is now believed to be living in a more stable foster home.
