Robert De Niro - Police Search Home Of Mobster Made Famous By Robert De Niro
The former home of Robert De Niro's mobster character in Goodfellas has become the scene of an investigation by New York City police officials following allegations a body was buried at the residence.
Acting on an anonymous tip, investigators surrounded James 'Jimmy the Gent' Burke's former pad in Queens on Monday (17Jun13) to search for human remains in the driveway, backyard and basement of the property, which is now owned by his daughter Catherine.
Law enforcement agents are reportedly searching for evidence related to a near three decade-old murder, as well as an ongoing Federal Bureau of Investigation (Fbi) case.
The gangster, who was the alleged mastermind behind one of the largest heists in American history in 1978, died behind bars in 1996 after a battle with cancer. His life was the inspiration behind De Niro's character James Conway in the Martin Scorsese film.
