Poison Drummer Rikki Rockett Arrested On Suspicion Of Rapeby Contributor | 29 March 2008
The drummer of heavy metal band Poison, Rikki Rockett, has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
Police announced that Rockett, 46, was arrested near Los Angeles International airport on Monday.
He has since been released and is awaiting an extradition decision by Mississippi prosecutors.
Neshoba County sheriff's investigator Ralph Sciple said that a woman in Mississippi filed a complaint claiming she was raped on September 23rd 2007 at the Silver Star Casino.
The woman is believed to have contacted the police several days after the incident and the official complaint claims: "The subject, Rikki Rockett, forcibly had sex with an adult in one of the hotel rooms."
Rockett, real name Richard Ream, was booked into the Los Angeles County jail on Monday and released early Tuesday morning.
The drummer and lead singer Bret Michaels formed the band Poison in 1983. They achieved considerable success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, selling more than 25 million albums worldwide.
