Pixies To Return To The Studio?

Pixies are considering recording a new album.

The US alternative rock band released five albums before initially splitting in 1993, then reunited in 2004 and have since toured their back catalogue, however drummer David Lovering has now revealed they have been discussing recording new material.

He told Billboard.com: "We've been talking about this for about three years now, actually. I don't know if it will come to fruition; I'm waiting and waiting to see what will happen. All I can say is if there is one, it better be good. We'd really have to work at it."

Guitarist Joey Santiago - who is joined in the band by David, singer and guitarist Frank Black and bassist Kim Deal - added that they group are just waiting for "everything aligning" and admitted The Cult band's legacy sets the bar high for any future recordings.

He added: "We're waiting for that, like, 'A-Ha!' moment. I'm already there. It's just a matter of timing and everything aligning. I guess there's a little pressure from the legacy thing. Sure there is.

"But I don't think there's any preconceived thing that anyone could expect us to do. The possibilities are pretty wide open, I'd say."

In the meantime, the band are playing their album 'Doolittle' in its entirety during their forthcoming tour of Canada.
