Pitbull Heads To Remote Alaska After Pranksters Hijack Online Poll
It's not quite as glorious as when millions got involved to try and send pop startlet Justin Bieber to North Korea back in 2010 - something that his representatives ultimately refused to let him do - but it sure has raised a chuckle as Mashable reports that a campaign by the retail giants on Facebook to get Pitbull to whichever town gained the most 'Likes' on their poll was hijacked, leading to 60,000 people voting to send the star to. Alaska.
The hijack was led by Something Awful's David Thorpe and Jon Hendren and as a result the rapper will be heading to the most remote Walmart store in the entire country - on the island of Kodiak where some 6,000 people dwell. In fairness to Pitbull, he's accepted the result with good grace, posting a video in which he says he's going "due to someone who thinks he was playing a prank", but adding, "You gotta understand that I will go anywhere in the world for my fans." Pitubll has even invited the two pranksters on the road with him as he heads up to the coldest state. What a good sport.
