Pitbull Exiled To Alaska As Facebook Poll Goes Badly Wrong
Not heard of Kodiak? The tiny city boasts just 6,100 and also happens to be home to the most remote Wal-Mart store in the United States. The whole thing began when Pitbull promised to make an appearance at the store that got the most Facebook "likes". The superstar entertainer was probably expected to be rocking up in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago or Miami, but it was Kodiak, Alaska who received the most likes, with 70,000. It was all down to pesky writer David Thorpe, who took to Twitter to alert others to vote for the store. Kodiak actually sits on Kodiak Island, and is - according Mr Thorpe - "bear infested". Nevertheless, Pitbull says he still intends on travelling to the city (which he can reach by boat or plane), and in a YouTube video said, "You gotta understand that I would go anywhere in the world for my fans", completely ignoring the fact that it was internet pranksters who sent him there.
Though Pitbull's team are still said to be organizing the trip, he should probably wrap up warm. The weather forecast for Kodiak, Alaska for the foreseeable future is rain, rain, and more rain. And it's cold up there.
