Syd Barrett - Pink Floyd 'Wish You Were Here Documentary' Maintains Strong Syd Barrett Presence

He may have been long gone form the group's set up, but according to a new documentary SYD BARRETT still had an enormous influence over Pink Floyd 's sound well into the seventies and beyond.

A new documentary chronicling the making of the Floyd album Wish You Were Here, released in September 1975, states that regardless of wherever Barrett was physically and mentally, he still had a say in how the band's music sounded.

JOHN EDGINTON, who directed the documentary The Story of Wish You Were Here, dedicates a generous slice of the doc to the now deceased member regardless of his absence from the recording. In a recent interview with Spinner magazine the filmmaker, John says "Syd was so integral to the band even though he was gone and so I tried to weave him in and out, not to be completely dominating, but just to have him in certain parts".

Wish You Were Here was Pink Floyd's follow-up album to the incredibly successful and influential The Dark Side of the Moon LP and is cited by many fans, including band members Richard Wright and DAVID GILMOUR, as the greatest and most popular release from the band. The album went straight to number 1 in both the U.K. and the U.S. as well as in many other countries upon release in 1975.
