Pink Floyd Will Not Be Playing At Olympic Closing Ceremony

Rock group Pink Floyd has come forth to dismiss claims that the band will be playing at the Olympics Closing Ceremony, issuing an official statement that says the band will not be performing at the show.

A spokesperson for the band has issued a response to the press speculation surrounding them, reiterating that the 'Wish You Were Here' singers will Not be performing at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, taking place on August 12th.

Ed Sheeran had initially said that he would be performing at the ceremony alongside some members of the classic group whilst talking to Australian radio show Nova, during which he said: "A lot of people think that I'm doing a song with The Who but I'm not - I'm doing a song with Pink Floyd. I'm doing Wish You Were Here."

Further acts due to appear at the ceremony, officially titled 'A Symphony of British Music', are being kept under wraps by organisers, who are keen to keep a lid on things.

According to the Olympics official website, the close will feature 4,100 performers, including 3,500 adult volunteers and 380 schoolchildren from the six east London Host Boroughs.

The ceremony, which will look to celebrate British music from the past 50 years, will also feature the ceremonial extinguishing of the flame and passing over the British flag to the next host city, Rio De Janeiro.
