Pink Floyd To Perform With Ed Sheeran At Olympics

Pink Floyd will perform with Ed Sheeran at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games.

'The A Team' hitmaker will take to the stage with the psychedelic legends to perform their track 'Wish You Were Here' when The Games close in London on August 12.

Ed told Australian radio station Nova: ''I'm playing the closing ceremony - which I think is kinda cool right? A lot of people think that I'm doing a song with The Who but I'm not - I'm doing a song with Pink Floyd. I'm doing 'Wish You Were Here'.''

He also confirmed he will appear with Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, but not all the surviving members of the band would take part. This means either bass player Roger Waters or guitarist DAVID GILMOUR will not be involved with the performance.

Pink Floyd have been officially defunct since 1996, although they have reformed for a few one-off charity shows, notably LIVE 8 in 2005.

Nick, David Gilmour and Roger have had many disputes in the past, but relations between them have thawed in recent times, with all three reunited onstage in May 2011 at a performance of their album 'The Wall' by Roger in London.

Nick has previously talked of his Hope they would play again, saying: ''I have a different view to David. If you ask David, he'll go, 'Not a chance,' where I sort of live in hope and think that Roger and David are capable of rising to an occasion.

''So if there were another Live 8, or something close to their heart, I think that could swing something.''
